Installing Zimbra OS 8.5 on Ubuntu 14.04

1Get a fresh VM or server with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS installed and ensure you are up to date:

# apt-get update
# apt-get upgrade
# apt-get dist-upgrade

2Fix your hostname:

# hostname zimbra.yourdomain.com
# vim /etc/hostname
# vim /etc/hosts

3Install Zimbra dependencies/prerequisites:

# apt-get install libgmp10 libperl5.18 libaio1 pax sysstat sqlite3 unzip

4Download the latest version of Zimbra ZCS Open Source Edition 8.5. In my case 8.5.0 GA Release:

# wget http://files2.zimbra.com/downloads/8.5.0_GA/zcs-8.5.0_GA_3042.UBUNTU14_64.20140828191919.tgz

5Unzip the tgz file:

# tar -xzvf zcs-8.5.0_GA_3042.UBUNTU14_64.20140828191919.tgz

6Change to the directory we just created:

# cd zcs-8.5.0_GA_3042.UBUNTU14_64.20140828191919.tgz

7Proceed with installation:

# administrator@zimbra:~/downloads/zcs/zcs-8.5.0_GA_3042.UBUNTU14_64.20140828191919$ sudo ./install.sh
